A block containing several mammal bones was recovered from a laminated travertine exposed in the village region of Collepardo (Frosinone, central Italy). Among them, a hemimandibula of a large short-snouted bear Agriotherium was found.
However, the breach did not allow extraction of the find. Therefore, to keep its features intact and not risk damaging the find, a medical CT scan was performed on the entire block.
Subsequent analysis revealed a large amount of fossils, not only the short-snouted bear, but also a neurocranium of Suide.
Thanks to digital filling, it was possible to digitally extrapolate these finds and then study and print them in resin, both for educational purposes and for more inclusive display.
