The Museum of Natural History of Maputo represents a uniqueness of its kind. It was etablished in 1911, it presents numerous collections of taxidermied animals (mammals, birds, reptiles) and a huge variety of Mozambican species of infertebrates.
Since 2021, thanks to the COREBIOM project, a complete renovation of the building, restoration of the exhibits, and a complete overhaul of the museum display has been initiated.
The virtual tour, created with 39 panoramas, in addition to being an important resource for visiting the museum during its closure for renovation, is a very important document for the historical memory of what the museum was like before the restoration work.
The project was funded by AICS and realized together with Sapienza, University of Rome, the Anton Dohrn marine zoological station and WeWorld-GVG
